As I am sitting here trying to figure out why I'm watching KYLE XY...well, to give it a break, it's not too bad, but tonight, 2 second year High School kids were on Kyle's "brothers" bed, his girlfriend, a Cancer patient who means alot to him evidently because she has chosen to let him have sex with her before she leaves to have chemo....he was hesitant because she meant more than that. So I sat here listening for 5 ridiculous minutes as she tries to sell him on the fact that she needs her breasts touched....excuse me? You may ask, what station is this!!??...well it's ABC..FAMILY. At 6PM! You know, little kids are awake? Yep, you got that right. ABC, Disney owned, decided to give us a Family Network that we can watch with our children without cringing. For the beginning, we got Hallmark movies, Disney movies,cartoons, 7th Heaven. I mean, we were so grateful for this station. Then it happened, not sure when or how because, as they say, wicked, bad, evil, whatever word you want to choose..perverted comes to mind especially, lately,sneaked in through the side door in a whisper. The "nice" shows were ending. The Disney Shows became and I use the term loosely because personally? I think we're better than this, started to become "Adult Oriented"....and..AND..JUST let me say in the entertainment industry, I resent that term! Not all adults want to watch children have sex for no other reason but because they can, as long as they bring the "plastic"to make sure they aren't accountable for their loose morals. I don't enjoy "GREEK" the newest entry to ABC "FAMILY" do you? Do you parents realize your sitting around the set with popcorn watching what might be your own kids at school or their friends house? Or at college that you pay thousands of dollars of tuition money, are paying for sex, drugs, wearing bathing suits( floss actually) even in the winter and drinking parties? And I don't mean Hawaiian Punch or kool-aid. What are we watching? If we bring it into the home, then the kids see it as acceptable living even if you say no. But I blame "The Family" Networks. Do you remember FX? Do you remember it started out as a Family Station? Then they brought in the re-runs of NYPD BLUE...and the whispering from the side door started...we were accepting partial nudity in our home. So then they added more, then THE SHIELD was created. Now the "Family" Network not only allowed the nudity, but XX-Rated language. So we watched the "Family Network" crash and burn. Is this to be the fate of Disney's ABC FAMILY?....THE KEY word here Soapsters..is DISNEY!!The word associated with children, family, Disneyland!!for corn sake. What we need to think about is, ok, we go see movies..that's one thing, but our homes should be a sanctuary from "all the crap they learn in High School" as an old song said. Course, my kids got on my butt saying Mom, geeze..you watch Soaps!. Now a days, that's soft-core Porn like those romance novels with the hunky guy (Fabio in the early years)shirt whipping off in the wind holding on to a well-built woman (who cared about her right??)whose blouse was threatening to be whipped of by same wind...and no matter WHAT race creed,color etc..the cover was, they all seemed to be in the same pose? humm....anyway, I digress,My kids were basically saying practice what you preach Mommy dearest.....so, I put away my "Romance novels" ,it was making my EX feel insecure anyway ;D.....and curbed my Soap Watching. I watch alot on the Hallmark Station (they have 2 networks on Cable) And TCM..can't go wrong on Old movies ...except there are some pretty racy movies done in the 1930's..SERIOUSLY! I was stunned, amazed even. But I'll stop the SoApBoX talk for now, But Soapsters? write to the networks, tell them you aren't a bunch a voyeurs. You care what you put in your memories and your childrens...course if you live alone in your later years, like me, your on your own as to what kind of Spirit you want in your home, But jump on the Bandwagon, sign some kind of Petition, or start small and write to ABC,FAMILY....ask TPTB to hold on, know we are here and that our opinions count.
