Ok y'all. Hi Soapsters!
Thought of what I wanted to say,vent,respond,whatever about, and the the thing that came into my mind over and over (unfortunately), was GH: NIGHT SHIFT. First, we must say, it's SUPPOSED to be NOT concerning GH..even though the characters are the same..BUT different. Jason is free, not in Pentenville. Billy D. Williams is reduced to being a janitor,with mystery. He always has wise council as he's mopping the floor. Spanelli is his usual cute self and still uses terms like "Stone-cold" etc...but as on GH,(Thursdays show) he was holding Jason's gun(which he sneeked in to get) to be a protector to all women blonde. On The Night Shift, he shot himself in the foot, but Jason says for him to keep silent and tells the police he shot him but accident while cleaning his gun. So, once again, Jason goes to court for it and gets...get this, Community Service LOL..the big killer Jason Morgan, is now swabbing' the decks of GH with Billy D.
Humor aside, the parts that made me mad, is that because this is on late night, the censors are sleeping at the switch. First we get an eye full of The character Robin in the shower (camera's were generous) and "Patrick" comes in from behind and wraps his obviously nude self around her.....somethng that of course would never be seen in the Afternoon. But then they pushed the envelope even further with the character Maxie Jones, who yes, we know is the Police Commissioners Step-daughter and the town teen-to-twenty-something slut. Who is dating a cop-in-training- who is also a criminal(which she knows). They meet in the hospital where she volunteers (to prove to her dad she's got a good heart, sheesh)and she asks if he has his handcuffs? they scurry off and you know they're looking for the nearest supply closet. The next scene was by far, pushing the envelope past the post office and to the next State, when we see Maxie in the supply closet, her hands handcuffed over her head to the shelves. Her legs wrapped around Coop(the cop) as we are watching them go at it, the Hospital's obnoxious administrator opens the door, she is so shocked, she falls backward and who should be there, but Maxie's daddy who roars like a Lion asking like an idiot, "What's going on here?" While this is happening, Coop, pulls away from Maxie and has to lay a towel over Maxie's lap to cover her while he's looking for his pants. The camera is showing as much as they can get away with and that's A LOT!!! I WAS SICK, ANGRY,AND INSULTED AND EMBARRASSED. Yea, I know some were giggling at the absurdity of "the situation" But I was appalled at the porn they had just gotten away with. This is what we will be looking forward to for this late-night Soap and I'm sure, the SCRUBS lovers out there will think who cares! give me more of Robin/Patrick etc....but, it lost the romance to me that made them who they were and scaled them down to the typical sexual active people especially with one of them HIV Positive,so the Soap that has tried to make us aware, has now just thrown into the same soft-medium-core-porn that we are starting to get on TV now that even as we speak is trickling down to Prime time with shows like "GREEK" AND OTHERS WHERE IT'S JUST SEX, DRINKING ETC....
I really was hoping for more than that from GH. The show is basically taking place in the ER from midnight to 6 am. Because Patrick/Robin did a surgery on a patient Dr. Ford (who has a stick up you know where)had said no about, due to lack of insurance,are sentenced to the Night Shift. The pace is faster. The cameras they are using are the ones that made us nuts before so I guess TPTB are getting there monies worth out of them. And they go so fast, I couldn't post it even if i DID plan to watch the Soap. But in all likelihood, I won't be because, morally, I feel wrong about it. I mean sometimes the Soaps on ABC I watch now make me want to bathe after, but this 'NIGHT SHIFT",THERE JUST AREN'T ENOUGH BUBBLES IN THE TUB to make me feel better about myself or uplifted. So Soapsters, I'll just leave this to SoapNet Cable and hope people will better of themselves and not watch this trash...these are good/great actors, they didn't have to resot to this to sell the story.
